It's probable that Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is wondering what on earth he's got himself into with his new charges sitting firmly at the foot of what is proving to be a hugely competitive Championship. The Black Cats were hardly expected to bounce straight back up to the Premier League at the first time of asking - that would clearly have been expecting far too much - however the manner in which they have failed miserably in the second-tier has been pretty embarrassing for all concerned and Coleman has a massive task ahead of him as he looks to steer the side to relative safety.

As things stand, Sunderland sit a single point adrift at the bottom of the table and while they are in no way guaranteed to make the drop, recent results suggest that they will remain very much in the danger zone until the end of the season, that is unless they embark upon a decent run, something which doesn't look to likely at the moment.

Indeed the Black Cats have lost all three of their outings since the turn of the year with league defeats to Barnsley (0-1) and Cardiff City (4-0) either side of a 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Middlesbrough. Will things be any different when they welcome fellow strugglers Hull City to the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon? We don't really expect so.

Sunderland may be struggling at the foot of the table but things aren't much better for Hull City with the Tigers also having a tough time of things in their first season back in the Championship. Hull had ambitions of making it back out of the second-tier at the first time of asking following their drop from the Premier League, however it's unlikely that they would have considered the possibility that they might be dropping into League One. That remains a real possibility with the Tigers sitting fifth from bottom in the Championship table and given that they have won just one of their last fourteen league outings, we're far from convinced that they will manage three points on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed neither side is looking likely to bag a win this weekend and we have absolutely no intention of backing Sunderland or Hull City to claim a maximum points haul, the most likely outcome of this match being a draw, a result which will suit neither side.
