It's fairly certain that most Sunderland fans will have been optimistic that their side would make a decent enough effort at winning promotion via the play-offs at the very least and indeed going on current form they could well be leaving the Championshipn after just a single season in the second tier. It certainly won't be in an upward direction however.

Things aren't going too well up at the Stadium of Light this season and following Sunderland's dreadful 2016/17 campaign, things have gone from bad to much worse with the side sitting second bottom of the Championship table with a dismal seven points amassed from their opening eleven matches. They did manage a point from a 2-2 draw at Preston North End before the international break but this does little to hide the fact that Sunderland are still out of their depth, even at this lower level.

Things have been better with Queens Park Rangers but not by much. Ian Holloway's side have been a mixed bag this season and with thirteen points to their name, they remain in the bottom half of the Championship table. They went down 2-1 at home to local rivals Fulham in their last league outing and as such they will be eager to bounce back from this disappointing result by collecting all three points on Wearside.

Indeed while QPR have been hit and miss since the start of the season, they have been putting in some impressive performances and in no match have they been under the cosh so to speak. Sunderland will arguably provide them with weaker opposition on Saturday afternoon and whilst the /free-bets make the visitors outsiders at 12/5, we'll be backing a QPR win against a Sunderland side who still look out of their depth.
