Tranmere haven’t been at their best this month, a 3-2 win at Chester being followed by four-game winless streak. They exited the FA Trophy at the hands of Macclesfield Town, although bounced back in emphatic fashion to win their subsequent two National League games and lift themselves to just two points adrift of joint leaders Lincoln City and Forest Green Rovers.
As such they are still very much in contention for promotion back to the Football League but clearly much work still needs to be done. Lincoln City remain very much in the driving seat with a game-in-hand over Tranmere Rovers, however a win for tonight’s hosts would see them climb into pole position and this is exactly what we’re predicting will happen.
Dover Athletic’s promotion hopes are far from dead and buried and they sit seventh in the National League table following their 4-0 thrashing of Guiseley on Saturday afternoon. They are a mere two points short of the play-offs and enjoy an advantage of two games-in-hand over the two sides above them.
Indeed Dover’s weekend victory was their seventh in their last eleven outings across all competitions although their league form on the road leaves a lot to be desired with four defeats in their last six away games. This doesn’t bode too well ahead of a meeting with one of the National League’s best sides.
Tranmere have collected 23 points from their last ten league matches at Prenton Park with just a single defeat during that time. Indeed only three of their defeats have been at home this season and such excellent form is hard to ignore. Backing Tranmere to win tonight is pretty attractive at 4/6 although we expect the visitors to get onto the scoresheet at some point, therefore we’ll be predicting Tranmere to win and both teams to score at 11/4 with William Hill.
