The National League seemed sewn up only a couple of months ago with Lincoln City undisputed leaders, however it is now very much a two-horse race with Tranmere Rovers level on points with the Imps at the top of the table.
Rovers had things very much their own way at the weekend when they utterly demolished Solihull Moors to the tune of 9-0 at Prenton Park and whilst we realistically don’t expect such a one-sided encounter when they face Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening, we firmly believe that Micky Mellon’s men can collect the three points in front of an expectant home support.
Five consecutive wins have seen Tranmere keep pace with long-term leaders Lincoln City, however third-placed Forest Green Rovers are certain to provide them with tough opposition this week. The Gloucestershire-based outfit have been something of a mixed bag of late with their title challenge effectively coming to a halt with back-to-back defeats to Lincoln City and relegation-bound North Ferriby United earlier this month.
Indeed Forest Green now lag behind the joint league leaders by some seven points with just five games left to play and whilst they are certain of a play-off place, any title ambitions that they may have held are now firmly up in smoke.
This situation certainly won’t be improving on the Wirral this weekend and with Tranmere certain to be in pretty buoyant mood following their weekend exploits, we’ll be backing the hosts to keep the pressure on Lincoln City by collecting all three points at a generous 11/10 with Coral.
