Wolverhampton Wanderers are sitting at the wrong end of the Championship table following a string of disappointing results and failure to collect all three points on Friday evening could result in them being dragged into the relegation mix at a crucial stage of the season.
Paul Lambert’s men sit just three positions and five points above the bottom three in the Championship and given their inconsistent form of late, we cannot see how they will lift themselves out of their current predicament.
The West Midlands side have lost each of their last three games at Molineux and whilst they were never expected to find a way past Premier League high-flyers Chelsea in the weekend FA Cup clash, the manner in which they lost to struggling Wigan Athletic in their last Championship outing will have been disappointing.
Wolves looked set to earn a valuable point when the Latics travelled to Molineux, however Jake Buxton headed in a winner with just two minutes left on the clock to secure a valuable victory over the home side. Indeed Wolves have suffered defeat in each of their last four outings in all competitions and we’re far from confident of their chances against Birmingham City.
That said, the Blues are struggling with some pretty abysmal form of their own of late and head into this match on the back of defeats against Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and QPR. Nevertheless Gianfranco Zola’s men managed a 1-0 win over Fulham earlier in February and we believe that they will grab their second win of the month against a Wolves side which are there for the taking.
