Huddersfield Town are the only side in the play-offs with a chance of making it into the top-two, however any hopes that they still have of closing the gap on second-placed Newcastle United would be dashed should Rafael Benitez’s men collect all three points tonight at St James’ park.
Nevertheless the Terriers will still be desperate to win on Tuesday evening and secure their place in the play-off places. David Wagner’s men enjoy a game-in-hand over their play-off rivals and they will be eager to put this to good use at Molineux on Tuesday evening.
Until relatively recently, Huddersfield Town were the in-form side in the Championship although the pressure appears to be telling. They started the month in dismal fashion by losing at home to Burton Albion and whilst they had little difficulty in brushing aside Norwich City in their next outing, a subsequent 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest was indicative of a downturn in fortunes.
Indeed their last outing saw them thrashed 4-1 by Fulham in what was a poor performance by the home side at Kirklees Stadium and whilst hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers have been a mixed bag in recent weeks, we expect them to end the Terriers’ ambitions of reaching the automatic promotion places, that is if they haven’t already been dashed on Monday evening.
In all honesty, we cannot really envisage the hosts collecting all three points on Tuesday evening but Huddersfield are clearly feeling the pressure and it would be no surprise whatsoever to see the two sides share the spoils in the West Midlands.
