We are fast approaching the 2014 Cheltenham Festival, one of the highlights of the UK sports calendar and Paddy Power have made a welcome concession for those punters looking to snap up some value on the principal races at the meeting.
Paddy have decided to go Non-Runner No Bet for the Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, World Hurdle and Gold Cup, the biggest race on each of the four days of the Festival, which is great insurance considering many horses have multiple entries for the March extravaganza.
Many people are talking about the unbeaten Annie Power who is currently entered into the Champion Hurdle and World Hurdle, with Paddy quoting 6/1 about the former and 3/1 that the mare wins the latter, with trainer Willie Mullins to consult the owners nearer to the time of the Festival.
Big Bucks’ is currently favourite to claim yet another Ladbrokes World Hurdle victory at odds of 2/1, with More Of That available at 6/1 and Boston Bob having been backed into 8/1.
The Champion Hurdle looks like a very hot race and Hurricane Fly will be bidding to win the race for a third occasion, although the Irish raider faces stiff competition from The New One, My Tent Or Yours and Our Conor.
Meanwhile, Sprinter Sacre has had a troubled season with an irregular heartbeat, although the Nicky Henderson horse is 4/7 with Paddy Power to claim a second consecutive Champion Chase win, while Sire De Grugy’s odds have tumbled from 25/1 to 3/1 in recent weeks.
The Gold Cup is the blue riband event of the whole Festival and Bobs Worth is a 2/1 chance after recently winning the Lexus Chase, although Cue Card is a backable 7/1 with connections mulling over whether the Betfair Chase winner will run in this race or the Ryanair Chase.
