Tip 1 - Uptown Harry - 1.45 Kelso
Uptown Harry finally got off the mark in maiden company last time when romping away from the front under a positive ride. He has more on his plate here back in handicap company but it’s not the strongest race in the world and he could have the lead to himself.
He’s run good races at Kelso before including when second in a handicap off the front. The maiden win last time out may have just boosted his confidence and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him employ the same tactics as last time and try and make all again.

Tip 2 - Empire de Maulde - 2.15 Kelso
Empire de Maulde was a very progressive hurdler last season but disappointed on his first run this term. That can be forgiven though as it was his first run after a wind operation, and also his first run chasing and his first run of the season.
Today he should come on plenty for that run and has the aid of cheekpieces to help as well. Brian Hughes is flying at the minute and the soon to be champion jockey has a good strike rate with James Ewart as well.

Tip 3 - The Con Man - 3.15 Kelso
The Con Man has been unlucky to bump into two smart prospects the last twice and should get back to winning ways today. Last time out at Haydock, he went clear but got collared late on which seems to be a theme at Haydock this season. I’d say if Hughes could ride that race again he’d probably win but he had a chance to make amends here.
The winner that day is a smart prospect for Phillip Hobbs and it was a much better race than this. Back up north in a weaker race he should be able to win second time out in handicap company.

Tip 4 - Bill and Barn - 3.30 Plumpton
Bill and Barn was a fairly decent handicapper for Paul Nicholls and was a solid 120s horse for a while. However his form tailed off and it was even worse when he joined Seamus Mullins’ yard.
Now dropped to a mark of 102 he bounced back to form last time dropped in grade. He was only beaten a length and a quarter and the top three pulled a fair way clear so you could argue it was a good race for the grade. He could go on and improve now he’s back to form and a repeat of that run last time would see him go close here.

Tip 5 - Bard of Brittany - 4.00 Plumpton
Sheena West has had 18 winners in the last five years, a massive 14 of those came at Plumpton. She is 14/81 17% here and shows a huge profit of £562.50 to a £10 stake on all her runners here. Bard of Brittany started out with Mick Channon and showed some promise in novice hurdles however he was sent chasing and didn’t really take to that sphere.
He’s joined Sheena West and has shown a lot more in two runs especially his first run when second. He split two very well handicapped horses that day in Dorking Boy and Le Ligerien. Dorking Boy has won since and is now 13lb higher and Le Ligerien has won twice since and is now 21lb higher. Bard of Brittany looks very well handicapped off that run just 4lb higher now. He was a beaten favourite next time out but those two runs were 0-115 and 0-110 races whereas today he drops into a 0-100 and has the first time cheekpieces to help as well.
