Next Blackburn Rovers Manager Odds

Tony Mowbray was a popular figure as manager of Blackburn Rovers, although the former West Brom and Middlesbrough manager made way at the end of the 2021/22 season. Having failed to steer the Lancashire outfit into the Championship play-offs, the reins will be handed to someone else.

It might take several weeks for Blackburn to find the right candidate, with Gareth Ainsworth now trading as favourite. Betting odds of evens with the best betting apps doesn’t suggest that Ainsworth is a done deal and he is still hoping to get promoted with Wycombe Wanderers.

There are plenty of other familiar names in the betting, with Carlos Carvalhal having plenty of Championship manager experience, while Michael Carrick, Simon Grayson and Duncan Ferguson coming next in the betting.

Would Gareth Ainsworth Leave Wycombe?

Gareth Ainsworth is one of the longest-serving managers in the Football League, having taken charge at Wycombe Wanderers in 2012. Few would have expected the 48-year-old to remain in charge 10 years down the line, although he’s been a hugely popular figure at Adams Park and could steer the Chairboys into the Championship this season.

Ainsworth actually started his playing career at Blackburn Rovers and was part of the youth setup between 1989-91 before starting out with Northwich Victoria and eventually going on to better things with clubs such as Preston, QPR and Wycombe.

It is clear that the ex-QPR caretaker boss has done a good job with Wycombe and might have aspirations to manage a bigger club that he can potentially steer into the Premier League. However, the length of his tenure with the Chairboys means he might remain loyal to the cause, especially if they get promotion.

Carlos Carvalhal Second Favourite for Blackburn Job

Carlos Carvalhal has previously enjoyed spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City in the Championship, with the Portuguese now trading as second favourite in the Next Blackburn Rovers Manager betting market. The 56-year-old is highly experienced and has been in charge at Braga since 2020, with the Portuguese side having gone deep in the Europa League this season before losing to Rangers.
Carvalhal twice took Sheffield Wednesday into the Championship play-offs, with the Owls losing the final on both occasions, the second of these saw Wednesday beaten on penalties. Perhaps the Blackburn board will feel as though this manager has the knowhow to steer Rovers to the top six of the division and build a promotion-challenging squad.

Michael Carrick Could Be Ready to Cut Teeth

Michael Carrick has been linked to a number of vacant managerial posts over the past few years. The 40-year-old has been part of the coaching staff at Manchester United since hanging up his playing boots, and it's possible that he could be an assistant to Erik ten Hag next term. However, perhaps the former West Ham and Tottenham player will feel as though he can now take on a fresh challenge.
Carrick has clearly worked with some top-class managers including Sir Alex Ferguson, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, with Carrick potentially eyeing nearby Blackburn as a chance to demonstrate his ability as a football manager. He is now trading as the third favourite on the betting market to take charge.

Daniel Farke is Tried and Tested in the Championship

When it comes to managers who have a blueprint for Championship promotion, Daniel Farke is definitely among them. The German might not have been able to keep Norwich City in the Premier League, he has twice steered the Canaries to the top flight by winning the title.

It naturally follows that he might be on the shortlist when the Blackburn Rovers owners are considering their options for a successor to Tony Mowbray. Farke was originally going to take charge at Russian club Krasnodar but is now looking for a new venture and is the joint-favourite with some of the best new betting sites.

McInnes and Johnson Also in Blackburn Betting

Derek McInnes is currently in charge at Kilmarnock having taken the manager’s job at the Scottish club in January. The 50-year-old previously had an eight-year spell with Aberdeen. He has previously experienced English football management with Bristol City and could be approached by Blackburn in their search for a new gaffer.

Damien Johnson is very familiar with Blackburn Rovers due to the fact that he played 60 times for them during his playing career and is currently the professional development phase lead coach at the Lancashire outfit. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he was promoted from within, and that would also be the cheap option.
