Next Burnley Manager Odds
Burnley are without a permament manager, and the betting odds suggest that caretaker boss Mike Jackson is unlikely to be given the nod come the end of the season. Much will depend on whether the Clarets stay in the Premier League, although it's Joey Barton and Vincent Kompany who are now at the top of the betting market.
Barton has just engineered promotion to League One with Bristol Rovers and has previously turned out for Burnley as a player, while Kompany is another ex-Manchester City player who is currently in charge of Anderlecht. Wayne Rooney continues to trade at single figure odds, while Chris Wilder remains prominent in the betting.

Joey Barton Could Be Ready to Further Ambition
At the time of writing, Barton is looking to the 2022-23 season with Bristol Rovers after engineering promotion from League Two last season. The Gas bounced back immediately after being relegated from League One, and the 39-year-old will now hope his team can reach the Championship in time.
That is a division where Burnley might find themselves at the end of the current campaign. Whether or not the Lancashire side remain in the top flight, this is a position that could interest Barton who made 14 appearances in 2017 as he finished up his playing career.
Barton has always been a controversial figure, who left his post as Fleetwood Town manager after being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, although he was cleared of thise charges in December 2021. His playing days were similarly marred by ill discipline, but the bookies think he has a decent chance of getting the job.
Would Kompany Be Prepared to Swap Anderlecht for Burnley?
Vincent Kompany's managerial career is still in its infancy, with the Belgian having been in charge at Anderlecht since 2020. The 36-year-old has been linked with the vacancy at Turf Moor to the extent that he's trading as the short-priced favourite with some bookmakers.
Kompany would be relatively unproven as a manager if he was appointed, although it would follow the trend of younger managers being given an opportunity.
Having won four Premier League titles with City and being captain of the team, it naturally follows that Kompany had the potential to become a decent manager, although the job would hold more appeal if it was in the Premier League.
Would Chris Wilder Swap Boro for Burnley?
Chris Wilder recently returned to the dug out to take charge of Middlesbrough, with Neil Warnock standing aside at the Riverside Stadium in November 2021. The former Sheffield United manager hoped to steer the Teeside club back into the Premier League last season, although Boro fell short of the top six, and he'll now revise the squad for another promotion assault.
Wilder might be keeping a watching brief on what's happening at Burnley, with the club currently embroiled in a relegation scrap. Whether the Clarets remain in the Premier League or drop down to the Championship, it's a job where the former Sheffield United boss might express an interest.
There are likely to be lots of resources at Turf Moor in order to rebuild a squad that has started to look stale in the past season or two. With parachute money likely to be plentiful, we could see Wilder lured to a job that offers better promotion prospects.
Will Mike Jackson Be Given Burnley Job Permamently?
Two seasons ago, Mike Jackson lasted just a handful of games in charge of Tranmere Rovers in League Two. Wind the clock forward and the former Preston defender was nominated for April Manager of the Month after Burnley managed to string together a few wins.
It's entirely possible that Jackson will get a permanent contract at Turf Moor, although the board are firstly waiting to see which division the club will be operating in next term. It's likely that relegation might strengthen Jackson's chances of getting a longer deal.
While the former Tranmere boss has certainly galvanised the players, he has been part of a wider coaching team that has aimed to boost the players, and perhaps the club will look to hire someone more tried and trusted.

Wayne Rooney Among Burnley Manager Favourites
Although Derby County have been relegated this season, Wayne Rooney is regarded as one of the standout managers in the Championship. The situation has been extremely challenging for the Midlands club considering the hefty 21-point deduction, and Rooney can hold his head high.
Indeed, the former Manchester United forward would have had Derby comfortably clear of the drop zone without the deduction, and that’s despite being severely hamstrung when signing players, meaning plenty of young players have been promoted to the first team.
It appears that Rooney has committed his future to Derby moving into next season, although Burnley might still look to approach someone who has worked wonders at Pride Park, and he would be given more freedom to sign players at Turf Moor.

Could Benitez Be Persuaded to Take Charge of Burnley?
Rafael Benitez has quite a collection of English clubs that he has now managed. He has steered Liverpool to a Champions League success and also had an ill-fated spell at Everton. In between, there was a caretaker stint at Chelsea, and he was also popular at Newcastle United when taking them to the top flight.
Benitez is fairly settled in England and could be open to a new challenge, with the bookies anticipating that Burnley could approach someone who has also managed big clubs on the continent including Valencia, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
It will be interesting to see whether Benitez is open to having talks with Burnley, but much depends on the division in which they are operating next term.
Allardyce Could Throw Hat Into Ring at Turf Moor
Sam Allardyce has been out of football management since stepping down at West Brom in 2021 following an unsuccessful attempt to keep them in the Premier League. It was a rare blot on the copybook of a 67-year-old who has an enviable track record when it comes to comes to keeping clubs afloat in the top flight.
Big Sam has also steered clubs such as Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United back to the Premier League from the Championship, and it’s no surprise to see him among the favourites with the best betting apps to replace Sean Dyche.
Perhaps the Allardyce brand of football will put off the owners of Burnley after Dyche’s pragmatic approach to the game. However, much depends on the available resources as to the style of football that a new manager can bring.

Duff is a Burnley Legend Who Could Be Given Reins
While Rooney and Allardyce are household names in English football, that isn’t the case with Michael Duff, who is currently manager of Cheltenham Town. However, this is someone well known to older Burnley supporters, who witnessed the Northern Irishman turn out for the Lancashire club on 342 occasions as a player.
Duff has done well with Cheltenham after steering them from League Two to the third tier last season, and the Robins have done more than enough to stay afloat in the division. He has actually got the team playing some enterprising football, and they’ve been involved in some high-scoring recent clashes.
Duff might see this opportunity as the perfect time to further his ambitions, and he would certainly have the goodwill of the fans as a former playing legend. His lack of managerial experience at a higher level is the obvious negative.

Espirito Santo a Higher Profile Candidate
Nuno Espirito Santo didn’t last long at Tottenham earlier this season, although we shouldn’t forget the sterling work achieved by the Portuguese at Wolves. It all started when the Midlands club were in the Championship, and perhaps Burnley will come calling for a manager looking to return to the game.
